Dear Y.E.S. Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Yorktown Elementary! A new year brings fresh opportunities, new goals, and an exciting journey ahead for our Wildcats. It is a privilege to continue serving as your principal, and I am looking forward to another wonderful year of learning and growth.
This year, we are setting our course for Destination: Success. Throughout the journey, our students will be encouraged to dream big, work hard, learn from challenges, and celebrate their progress. Success does not look exactly the same for every child, and that is what makes each journey special. Our responsibility is to meet students where they are and help them take meaningful steps forward.
At Y.E.S., our priorities begin with loving children, building strong relationships, and creating a safe and welcoming place to learn. We will maintain high expectations while providing the encouragement, support, and engaging experiences students need to thrive. Academics will remain at the heart of our work, but we will also provide opportunities for students to explore their talents, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and experience the joy of being a Wildcat.
Families are essential partners on this journey. Your encouragement, involvement, and communication help us provide the best possible experience for every student. I invite you to stay connected, ask questions, share ideas, and celebrate alongside us throughout the year.
Thank you for trusting the Y.E.S. staff with your children each day. We are excited to welcome our Wildcats back, help them discover what they are capable of, and travel together toward a year filled with achievement, growth, and unforgettable memories.
Buckle up, Wildcats—our Destination is Success! GO CATS GO!

🔥🍄 Rockin’ and Rollin’ into Fire Safety! 🍄🔥
Yorktown Elementary was invited to attend an incredible Fire Prevention Show put on by local Victoria first responders, and this year’s Mario-themed event was one our Wildcats won’t forget!
With a live band, lots of energy, and plenty of important fire safety messages, our students rocked and rolled their way into safety awareness! 🎸🚒
A huge thank-you to the Victoria first responders for putting together such a fun and memorable experience while teaching our students how to stay safe. We are grateful for all you do for our community!
Stay safe, Wildcats!
🐾🌾 Ag Day Fun! 🌾🐾
Our 4th graders had the absolute best time at Ag Day in Cuero! The weather was perfect, and our Wildcats had an incredible day learning about agriculture, making connections, and experiencing hands-on activities.
A HUGE thank-you to everyone who works so hard to make this special event possible for our students. We are so grateful for the opportunity to get our Wildcats out learning and exploring!
What a great day to learn! 💛🖤🌾
Nuclear Chemistry in Action! 🧪 Our Chemistry students brought nuclear chemistry to life with some seriously creative project presentations! Each pair selected 3 of 9 project choices to demonstrate their understanding—and the results were anything but ordinary! From raps and comic strips to true/false challenges and even teaching other teachers, students found unique ways to show what they know. 🎤💥📚 Who says chemistry can’t be creative? Way to make learning memorable! 🧪✨
Biology in Action!
Mrs. Wunsch’s Biology students put their science skills to work as they rotated through 12 learning stations, analyzing graphics, reading information, and answering questions to compare viruses and cells. 🦠🧫 Hands-on learning, critical thinking, and collaboration made for a great day in Biology! 💡📚 #YSC #BiologyInAction #HandsOnLearning #DestinationSuccess
