📚✈️ Summer may be a break for students, but our staff is already investing in learning for the year ahead!

Yorktown Elementary educators Ms. Knight and Ms. Williams traveled all the way to Oklahoma to attend a STEM conference, where they explored innovative strategies, hands-on learning experiences, and exciting new ideas to enhance STEM education.

Degree check results are in, and Yorktown FFA has plenty to celebrate! After an incredible year, we are excited to continue building on the success and growth our chapter has experienced over the last two years.

We are proud to announce that six Yorktown FFA members have earned the Lone Star FFA Degree, the highest degree awarded at the state level. These students will be recognized in just a few weeks in Fort Worth.

Congratulations to our Lone Star Degree recipients:

We are also excited to announce that four Yorktown FFA members have earned the American FFA Degree, the highest honor bestowed by the National FFA Organization. Only about 1% of FFA members nationwide achieve this distinction. Prior to this year, Yorktown FFA had only three American Degree recipients in chapter history. With this year’s class, we are proud to add four more names to that prestigious list.

State Proficiency Award Results

These students represented Yorktown FFA exceptionally well through their years of dedication and record keeping. Advancing to the state level with proficiency applications is an accomplishment in itself, and having books ranked among the best in Texas is something our chapter is incredibly proud of.

Congratulations to all of these outstanding students and to Yorktown FFA on another successful year! Their hard work, commitment, and passion for agriculture continue to raise the standard for excellence and leave a lasting impact on our chapter. We are excited to see what the future holds for Yorktown FFA!

Principal's Message

Dear Y.E.S. Families,

On behalf of the entire staff at Yorktown Elementary School, it is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to a new school year! My name is Stephanie Zigmond, and I am both honored and overjoyed to serve as principal for the 2025-2026 school year.

It is with deep gratitude and enthusiasm that I continue my journey at YES. Since beginning my career in education in 2010, I have had the privilege of serving children and families in many different ways—as a teacher, a literacy coach, an assistant principal, and now as principal. Each role has brought me closer to my goal of fostering a learning environment that is both safe and fun for all learners. I am committed to leading a school that prioritizes academic excellence while celebrating creativity, curiosity, and joy.

Yorktown Elementary is known for offering a wide range of enriching opportunities that support the whole child—from strong academic programs to engaging extracurricular activities. My goal is to preserve and strengthen these experiences, ensuring that every student thrives and feels proud to be part of our school community.

We believe that a strong home-school connection is essential to a child’s growth and success. As principal, I am dedicated to open communication, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and holding high expectations for every learner. I look forward to meeting each of you and working together to make this a truly fantastic year.
